The #BuffyRewatch is “Gone” on @tordotcom

slayerThis week Buffy’s invisible and the Trio reveal themselves to the Scoobies in my rewatch of “Gone.” Also, Buffy’s hair is declared officially teh cute.

I will be appearing at FanExpo all week, starting Thursday. Look for me in “Author’s Alley” and at a panel on Friday at 6:15 p.m. on WorldBuilding and Epic Fantasy magic systems. I’m very excited about my first face-to-face collision with Toronto fandom, though very sad to be FanExpoing with my bestest con wingman, D.D. Barant of the Bloodhound Files novels.

Wreckage on the @tordotcom #Buffyrewatch and Telewitterings

slayerI’m up to “Wrecked” over at Tor. Willow’s deep in the throes of what looks awfully like drug addiction, and it’s all just a little depressing. Or a lot.

Other things I’ve been watching lately:
Doc Martin, which is about an uptight surgeon who moves to a charming village in Cornwall. Badger, if you and Fearless haven’t discovered this yet, you will squee.

The Big Year. Camille Alexa suggested I watch this. I no longer think of myself as a rabid birder.

The Killing: Season Two. The big reveal was a little obvious, but I liked this a lot, and the end certainly raised the stakes.

We have given up on Suits, which had become an endless round of people waving blue folders at each other and engaging in very silly power struggles. Not even Gina Torres can keep one engaged in that forever.

Smash goes the #BuffyRewatch on @tordotcom

The Buffy rewatch continues to move into the harsh terrain of season six with “Smashed.” Enjoy, if you can!

Yesterday was some kind of civic holiday here in Ontarioland, and it was Pride Weekend in Vancouver. I saw some fantastic pictures of many of my friends on Instagram from the latter event. In many ways, it was better than getting sunburned trying to see the parade.

What Kelly and I did with the day off: we went down to Fort York to partake of the Simcoe Day celebrations. Drum and fife bands and redcoats a-drillin’! It was a lot of fun. Here’s the band engaging in some fancy footwork:

Let’s get musical (musical!) on the #Buffyrewatch

slayerOnce More, With Feeling” is without a doubt a contender for the BtVS episode I’ve seen the most. The other things on the ballot would be “Hush,” “The Zeppo” and “Dopplegangland.”

When Kelly turned 38, we rented the Pacific Cinematheque theater in Vancouver and showed it, along with “Hush.” We issued an open invitation to all of Vancouver fandom; I’d say about 150 people turned up to sing along. Many of those were from the choir now known as Out in Harmony, so it was an especially tuneful singalong even though the theater’s acoustics were quite bad.

We have the soundtrack. We sing it on road trip. You probably do, too.

All of which is a rather long-winded way of saying that I’m maybe a season and a half from the end of this rewatch. Which is thoroughly amazing to me, and makes me want to ask whether anyone else has a long-term project on the go whose end is, perhaps, heaving into view.
