When small-time criminal Albert Lethewood is murdered, he leaves his daughter Astrid a house in the town of Indigo Springs. Suspecting a scam, she nevertheless moves into the house with two friends. There they discover several mystical objects, including a penknife capable of terrible–perhaps limitless–destruction.
Soon it is obvious the old house is a cover for a wellspring of magical energy, and that Albert Lethewood had a secret life as the wellspring’s keeper. It falls to Astrid and her friends: dependable, heroic Jacks Glade and volatile Sahara Knax, to puzzle out the nature and purpose of the magical well.
But Albert’s killer is still out there. Worse, the mystical power is deeply seductive. . . and Sahara might be willing to risk everything, even Astrid herself, for control of the well.

I found “Indigo Springs” while perusing my hometown’s “DEL-” section (with the intent of finding something by Charles DeLint) and I am so very glad that it caught my eye. I’ve only recently been getting back into reading after a long-ish hiatus and books like yours are reminding me what I have missed!
I wish you well and am thoroughly excited to see that there’s a sequel in the works.
Trevor
Hi, Trevor–thank you! I do like being next to Charles DeLint on the bookshelf–what we write is similar and he’s just good literary company to be in!
So I had gone to the library with my mother because she was picking up another self-help book and I decided after the big Twilight craze I needed another series to get addicted to… But after 30 minutes of wading through the computer search results ( I prefer fantasy books ) and even traipsing over to the young adult section… Which by the way, had the likes of Lord of the Rings among the teen drama literature… Anyway, after all of that my mom started to get impatient with me and was beginning to nag me to leave. I said, “One more aisle.” I walked into the fiction section and searched only for the books with the little unicorn stickers. At the END of the aisle, in the middle of a shelf Indigo Springs caught my eye… I immediately snatched it off and started to read the back… No joke I read three sentences and said, “this is it!” to my mom. Now, I can’t put it down! I love the chemistry between Dr. Forest and Astrid! Umm anyway, I can’t wait for Blue Magic!
By the way…. Have you ever thought about having someone write a screenplay for it? It would kill at the box office.. I’m just sayin.

Hi, Amy–thank you! (And I like the idea of INDIGO SPRINGS with a unicorn sticker on it, pulling you in.) You’ve also reminded me that the library’s on my list today.
I’d love it if IS was made into a film. So would my brother-in-law. He seems to think that he should play Jacks and that Sahara and Astrid should be Angelina Jolie and Keira Knightly. And I did give it to one director I know to look at, but that hasn’t come to anything so far. But I have an agent who definitely has that prospect in mind, and if it did ever get adapted, I’d be crowing about it here, a lot!

I picked this book up at the Book Festival in Rotterdam (The Netherlands). I really liked the summary on the back and I’m so glad I bought it! It was a very good read, so exciting! 🙂
I am so delighted to hear you enjoyed it, Anne! Thank you for letting me know.
